Project Summary:

Judy Vocational Center in Msirik was a vocational center that provided Vocational courses and awareness sessions within the Livelihoods sector. The activities were implemented by Judy Organization for Relief and Development with generous support from the Danish Church Aid (DCA) and funding from the Danish people.

The center offered diverse vocational courses such as sewing, smartphone repair, computer basics, English language, men’s hairdressing, and electrical installations. Additionally, several awareness sessions were conducted for the local community on health, social, educational, and child protection topics in Msirik area of Semel District and Dohuk Governorate.

The project was executed in three phases between 2022 and 2023. The activities included conducting a needs assessment survey in Semel, providing vocational courses for men, women, youth, and girls, and organizing general and health awareness sessions.

The project targeted men and women from three categories, which are the host community, Iraqi internally displaced persons, and Syrian refugees. The center aimed to enhance the capabilities of these individuals, economically and socially, by equipping them with necessary vocational skills and knowledge to improve their livelihoods.

Thanks to the joint efforts of Judy Organization for Relief and Development, Danish Church Aid (DCA), and the Danish people, the center succeeded in providing essential support to families in Msirik, enhancing their opportunities for sustainable employment and promoting comprehensive development in the region.
